Far East Movement (also known as FM) will be collaborating with popular
artist Robert Vargas This Thursday at the Downtown L.A. Art Walk, a monthly
showcase and celebration of the best galleries, artists, photography,
restaurants, bars and businesses in Downtown Los Angeles. Recently, Vargas
received major accolades being featured on the cover of LA Weekly’s
celebrated “Best of L.A.” issue.
This Thursday, Vargas and Far East Movement will collaborate and give fans a
free experience of both Music and Art like never before at the Art Walk.
Vargas will paint a mural of the chart-topping group in his popular
signature style followed by a high-energy Free Wired performance by FM. Once
the mural is painted, FM will start their performance while the mural dries
in the background by the end of their set. “The finished painting will
symbolize staying present and capturing the moment,” states Vargas. He
continues, “this is a collaboration of exploring artistic dialogue in the
community by making our collective art accessible in the true spirit of
The thriving Downtown LA scene heavily influenced Far East Movement and
Vargas where they both have hometown roots. FM invited Vargas to make a
cameo appearance in the music video for their platinum selling smash hit
single “Rocketeer” as an artist that designs a jet pack. The music video was
shot in the neighborhood where FM and Vargas grew up. Hailed by many as the
“mayor of the art walk” Vargas has been a fixture since it’s inception and
always draws large crowds whenever he paints live.
Far East Movement got their start in Downtown LA playing clubs and loft
parties. The group hit #1 in the country with their smash hit “Like A G6″
and returned to the Top 10 with their follow-up “Rocketeer.” The group’s
current single “If I Was You” featuring Snoop Dogg is climbing Top 40.
Collectively, the group has sold over 5 million singles and recently
nominated for a Billboard Music Award. They will be touring with Lil Wayne
this summer on the best selling I AM MUSIC tour. Check
