Strikeforce Readies for a Fight

The cage door opens and two champions step inside.  Gilbert Melendez, Strikeforce’s 155-pound title holder, and Jake Shields, the man who holds the 185-pound strap, square off.  This, however, is not a superfight, but instead an open workout and preview for the media of the training techniques used by some of the top fighters in Mixed Martial Arts.  As Strikeforce prepares to descend upon Nashville, Tennessee on April 17 with a huge event, the promotion wasted no time in giving an extensive preview to the press of how its fighters are preparing.

Strikeforce

With the competition between Strikeforce and the Ultimate Fighting Championship heating up, the open workouts on March 17 at Legends Gym in Hollywood were a chance for Strikeforce to promote its upcoming Nashville card.  The media turnout was huge, and with good reason, because the show has some truly incredible matchups that fans have been wanting to see for ages.  Dan Henderson, the only fighter to hold belts in two different weight classes at the same time, will make his Strikeforce debut against Jake Shields for the 185-pound title.  While Shields and Melendez showed off some of their great ground skills in the workouts, Henderson also demonstrated some of his own top-notch wrestling.  When Shields and Henderson step into the cage it seems clear that it’s going to be a great grappling match made even more interesting by the fact that Henderson just recently made his exit from the UFC when a contract renewal agreement couldn’t be reached.  Henderson said quite candidly, “I’m just thankful for Strikeforce because it gives fighters an option.”  He will have his first test with that option when he steps into the cage against the highly ranked Shields.

Another title fight on the card that fans world-wide have been clamoring for is a matchup between Strikeforce 155-pound champion, Melendez, and the DREAM 155-pound champion, Shinya Aoki.  Ever since Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker, announced a partnership with the huge Japan-based promotion, DREAM, fans have wanted to see who would win in a matchup between the champions of both the promotions’ lightweight division.  That will finally come to fruition on April 17, and the stakes are even higher as Aoki takes great pride in representing his homeland of Japan.  While stating that he has respect for the United States and his American opponent, Aoki also explained quite clearly through an interpreter that, “I feel like this is a fight between the U.S.A. and Japan.”  Melendez is also coming prepared for a fight, though, so fireworks can be expected for their showdown, especially considering both combatants prowess in grappling and submissions.

There is yet another title fight on the main card which pits two of the best in Strikeforce’s light heavyweight division against one another.  Gegard Mousasi is one of the undisputed best up-and-comers who has quickly established a name for himself with his dominant striking, recently nabbing the light heavyweight belt.  However, he will face an incredibly dominant wrestler in “King Mo” Lawal.  While the match can be cast as a classic striker vs. grappler match, Mousasi expressed that he had been focusing intently on his wrestling.  With a belt on the line, it can be assured that this fight, along with the other two title fights, will keep fans on the edge of their seats.  In addition to the three headlining fights, the Nashville card will also feature Pro Wrestler-turned-MMA-star, Bobby Lashley, facing a yet-to-be-named competitor.  With so many great fights on the card, Strikeforce on CBS will be the program to watch on April 17.

  19. Thanks for your write-up. One other thing is that if you are advertising your property by yourself, one of the challenges you need to be cognizant of upfront is how to deal with property inspection reports. As a FSBO vendor, the key about successfully transferring your property along with saving money about real estate agent commission rates is know-how. The more you already know, the more stable your home sales effort will be. One area that this is particularly crucial is assessments.

  20. Carl Ziemann says:

Thanks for the new stuff you have discovered in your post. One thing I’d like to reply to is that FSBO relationships are built as time passes. By launching yourself to owners the first saturday and sunday their FSBO is actually announced, prior to the masses start out calling on Friday, you generate a good relationship. By giving them tools, educational materials, free reviews, and forms, you become a good ally. If you take a personal interest in them along with their scenario, you generate a solid link that, oftentimes, pays off once the owners opt with a realtor they know in addition to trust – preferably you.

  33. I have realized that over the course of making a relationship with real estate proprietors, you’ll be able to get them to understand that, in each and every real estate purchase, a percentage is paid. Finally, FSBO sellers really don’t “save” the commission. Rather, they try to win the commission by simply doing a good agent’s work. In this, they commit their money and time to conduct, as best they are able to, the responsibilities of an broker. Those tasks include exposing the home through marketing, presenting the home to willing buyers, constructing a sense of buyer emergency in order to induce an offer, booking home inspections, taking on qualification check ups with the bank, supervising maintenance, and assisting the closing.

  34. You understand thus considerably in the case of this subject, made me personally consider it from so many varied angles. Its like men and women don’t seem to be interested except it is one thing to do with Lady gaga! Your personal stuffs excellent. At all times handle it up!

  40. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

  41. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
