The Montana Movement


If the Z-Boys had formed a friendship in Montana in the ‘70s, who knows where skateboarding would’ve gone as a sport. There are about as many backyard pools in Big Sky Country as there are snow blowers in San Diego and even though Montana is the fourth largest state in the country, barely trailing California in total square miles, it currently contains less than a million people within its rugged boundaries. About one hundred miles south of the Canadian border in the middle of the windy Montana prairie rests one of the most impressive Grindline skateparks in the country, despite the fact that ideal skating conditions exist for less than half of the year.
