According to USA Today, New Orleans ranks as one of the 50 biggest school districts in the nation. The same report noted that the district’s graduation rate is at only 53%. This figure also fails to take into consideration the graduation rate of minorities within the district that vary even more. So why is it that in a district where only half of the students are earning a high school diploma, schools decided to NOT hold classes in the wake of their hometown Saints’ Super Bowl victory last Sunday.

It should scare most sports fans that the big story revolving around the big game this coming Sunday between the New Orleans’ Saints and the Indianapolis Colts is how Kim Kardashian is traveling to the game. Here is some even scary news: in the battle of commercials during the big game it seems the conservative right is winning. Go Daddy, the monster of a web hosting company has been no stranger to controversial ads. This time around, the company produced a commercial with pitch girl Danica Patrick that features a former football player (fictional), who begins an online lingerie company called Lola. Highly ambiguous, wearing a pink velour tracksuit and primping scantily clad women in lingerie, CBS decided to yank the commercial.
